About
My passion for Art started when 6yrs old. I used to paint landscapes with my father in watercolour....and soon enough I was painting in oils and had a scholarship in Art for Queen Mary's. Throughout school I spent the time exploring different styles and techniques. In my final two years I discovered what would end up being my “style”. I painted a few pieces that involved using bold colour and strong lines. I decided that this was the way in which I wanted to evoke and express emotion. The bold lines in my work tell a story. They move from one side to another. They help the viewer travel with me on a journey.
In my most recent exhibitions I have made a decision to make my work relate to the viewer. I painted a number of bar scenes in my first solo exhibition. They are modern and fun which allows the viewer to engage and not be intimidated by the content. I paint in strong colours and bold black lines in order to make my work lift itself off the surface and interrupt the space between the canvas and the viewer. This is what I try to do with all my works, eliminate the viewing space so the viewer can be at one with my work. This is how I feel a viewer can enjoy the experience of my work.
I create in order to express a certain feeling/emotion....however most of my focus is on creating something that other people can enjoy as much as I do.
I am currently preparing for my second Solo exhibition. For this I have been exploring different themes and subjects. Due to my love of the female form I was naturally drawn to painting a series of Woman in a “femme fatale” context. All of the woman in my exhibition will be seducing and engaging with the viewer in different ways and means.....
